Good café in the middle of Freiburg, even if the atmosphere in the café is dusty and the staff sometimes comes across as a bit listless, the café can be recommended due to the delicious cakes. Unfortunately, quite a few cakes contain alcohol, and this is only explained on request. The prices are definitely higher, there is no reception at all in the back of the café, neither the card reader nor the cell phone had a network there. The waitress should perhaps ask beforehand whether you want to pay in cash or by card and not always assume that you will only pay in cash.

I just bought a piece of berry cake on yoghurt cream to take away and initially found it quite expensive at 3.90 euros. After trying it at home, I have to say it was worth every single penny.

My sister-in-law bought a cake for my child's birthday, and the cake looked exactly what my sister-in-law wanted. Whenever she approached the seller to improve the cake, she would be yelled at. The cake cost 105 € ... Zero friendliness and customer service, if you couldn't give any stars I would do this.

Unfortunately a great letdown. The cafe was recommended to us as one of the best in Freiburg during the city tour. We were lucky and two tables were free in the outside area. Unfortunately there were ice cream cups, cake plates, etc. on the tables. We waited 15 minutes. The service staff ignored us. When we observed the service staff, we noticed that the staff seemed very unfriendly and that there was a lack of motivation. We cannot recommend this cafe despite the supposedly best cakes in Freiburg.

Very good Schwarzwald cake. We tried in some other places, but this one was better.

The service was a bit overwhelmed and tended to leave an annoyed impression on me. The cake was relatively expensive and the pieces relatively small. The selection is rather small and standard. Without wanting to spoil the cake there, but Dr. Oetker is better.

It sounded so appetizing too bad we are pissing you off and making you understand that we don't need you. No effort to try to understand our wishes. In short, my children ended up with only one poor scoop of vanilla (very good indeed) and us 1 coffee. For the chocolate there is no or else he has them bought separately in the shop. Tea room for a gourmet break after a tour of the city. Lots of choices but don't be long in coming because the desserts go quickly.

Personell was very nice, even though they were about to close in 15 minutes they took the order in a kind manner and served out coffee outside. They didn't put any pressure to us to leave. The coffee had a good taste, and the cookie I bought was the best cookie I have tried in Germany. I love the Streusel it was amazing for me to find a cookie made only of that

Discovered this nice and super located café while traveling. The lady who served us was super nice! Breakfast was stunning. The rolls were probably the best I've ever eaten. Gladly again anytime.

One of the nicest cafeterias to visit in Freiburg. They have nice sweets however don't expect a bakery.

A very nice place with great cakes and coffe, if you go there don't miss the hot chocolate and to take a box of cherry chocolates, they are delicious. I would rate 5 stars but the croissants are not as fresh as in France and they are frozen, that's a pitty .

Good selection of tasty cakes. Service rather slow but the place was packed, so that‘s ok. They could improve the place by providing WiFi and abolish the aggravating ticket system for cake ordering.

Worst attitude of the owner / staff. I ordered a chocolate cake, for a birthday party, 10 days in advance. I specifically mentioned to put less cream. But they made a cream cake with 90% cream on it. They refused to give me another cake. Since I paid the money in advance I had no other option. I faced a very unfriendly attitude of the owner.

Great cakes in general and tasty Black Forest cake! The place is always busy, so you need to be patient with the service. The prices aren’t that expensive compared to other places. Coffee is great too. Worth a visit every now and then.

Lovely black forest cake. So light, moist, fresh. Left no aftertaste. It wasn't too sweet, nor did it have too much alcohol. Worth a visit.

Good selections of cakes, tarts, and chocolate delicacies~ they look pretty, some of them taste nice. But the cream stuffing in the chocolate roll has solidified… too much butter, out of taste! In addition, the seating arrangement is overly crowded, and service is not sincere, somehow I don’t feel comfortable.

Always wanted to have black forest cake in black forest and I was not disappointed. Black forest cake at Schmidt is the best I ever had, the staff is friendly and efficient, it was a good experience. The cafe is close to tourist office.

Good variety of cakes and coffee with gòod quality but pricy.

Deliciously elegant Blackforest cake - just the right amount of sweetness and kick from the Liköred cherries. Went perfectly with the coffee. The staff are polite and the ambiance is charmingly old world. 6.8 for filter coffee and cake. Prices are higher for eat-ins vs. takeaways. Worth it!

Very good pastry, absolutely recommended. A first-class confectioner who understands his craft. It avoids excessive use of sugar, so that the high quality of the baking ingredients can melt on the tongue. Very nice service, which has much to do. An honest, friendly thank you and tip they deserve.

Cake was good. Coffee was average with mostly foam. Service was good.

I had a Black Forest cake and a hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was good, but I found the cake to be dry, which really surprised me considering the amount of cream it had. Also wait times were an issue, I don’t feel like it was the wait staffs fault as they looked busy. But the wait time for my bill was annoying, and even more so to actually pay. Still a place I would sit again if I was walking past, but wouldn’t go to far out of my way.

as Tepper said at the last comment, not friendly to tourist nor people who speaking German. Maybe the Ober was in the bad mood, it feels like just broke up with her boyfriend. I will absolutely not introduce this place to my friends. 3 stars is for the location. 可去可不去的咖啡店。
